Why is my Koralia noisy?

There are several possible causes of a noisy Koralia.  First check and make sure that the black and white washers are still in the unit.  The black washer fits down inside the motor chamber.  The white washer sits on the backside of the impeller.  Make sure the shaft is clean, smooth and straight.  It should not be attached to the impeller.  Make sure the impeller is attached to its magnet and that the blades are undamaged.  Finally, make sure that the front cover is installed correctly.

Which Koralia are safe to use on Wavemakers and Timers?

While the original Koralias 1, 2, 3 and 4 are not designed for use on wavemakers, there are some models of Koralias that are designed for such operation. The Koralia Evolutions, Koralia Magnums and Koralia Nanos are all designed to operate either continuously or on wavetimers.

Why is my Koralia Magnum impeller not spinning?

The Koralia Magnum impeller rides on 2 bushings.  If the bushings are stuck to the magnetic shaft, then the impeller will not spin. Unplug the unit and remove the impeller to clean the bushings. One is located near the top on the impeller and is hidden by the black wing. The second contacts the bottom of the magnet.  Once the bushings are clean, reinstall everything and plugg the unit back in.

The magnum Koralia has a safety feature that prevents the unit from powering up when the impeller is impeeded. You need to unplug the unit, clear teh obstruction and plug the unit back in.

There are several possible causes of reversal in the Koralia Evolution.

  1. The bushing that sits inside the black wing of the impeller may have slipped down. If this has occured, simply push the bushing back into place.
  2. The front cover maybe damaged.
  3. The rubber bumper on the inside of the front cover maybe missing or damaged. If you cannot diagnose the cause on your own, feel free to contact Hydor Customer Service for assistance.

Is it normal to hear a click when the Koralia Evolution starts-up?
